Nozomu Sugawara was born in 1990 at Sendai (Miyagi), Nozomu Sugawara got numerous prizes at domestic competitions in Japan since his childhood, which includes the 8th International Chopin Piano Competition in Asia (Silver Prize), the 1st Yokohama International Music Competition (2nd Prize), the 8th Osaka International Music Competition (3rd Prize). He also got 1st Prize with ANA Award and Senzoku-Gakuen Award at the duo category in the 31st PTNA Piano Piano Competition.

In August 2012, he got the Grand-Prix at Grade Superior of the 36th PTNA Piano Competition with Minister of Education and Culture Award, Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra Award, Oji-Hall Award, Yomiuri Newspaper Award and Student Jury Award.
He has played with Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra under Pascal Verrot, Kazuki Yamada, Kazufumi Yamashita, and Tokyo University of the Arts Philharmonic Orchestra with Douglas Bostock, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra with Chikara Iwamura. In 2013, he will appear as a soloist at Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra with Fumiaki Miyamoto by Tchaikovsky B flat minor Concerto. Since 2011, he made a pianist group “IMAGE” with his friends and had concerts throughout Japan.

He now studies at Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo-Geidai), and will continue to study from the next year at Graduate Course. His teachers are Ms. Yukari Ito, Mr. Yoshiyuki Oishi, Mr. Masato Tezuka, Ms. Makiko Ogata, Mr. Rintaro Akamatsu and Mr. Yu Kakuno. He attended the masterclass at Chopin Academy in Warsaw with Prof. Piotr Paleczny.
